When I run import numpy as np
I get ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'numpy'
I have tried it in the project I always used, I have tried it in a new project where Conda is the environment used but I always get this error. I am clueless here.
When I type in the Terminal of my Macbook pip3 install numpy I get the answer that I already have numpy Requirement already satisfied: numpy in /opt/anaconda3/lib/python3.9/site-packages (1.21.5)
Often, many IDEs (like Spyder, Jupyter Notebook, or PyCharm) installs their own virtual environment of python to keep things easy and simple for them from your global python.
even if you have a package installed in your global python, you might not able to use it in your virtual environment since it would have separate package management.
So the solution is to install the package using the IDEs.
In your case you can do it by using their terminal or using the red bulb (which will appear on the top of your pakage)

I have been using Jupyter for some time now and it has worked just fine. I have Jupyter and Python installed via Homebrew. I am running on MacOS.
Yesterday, I ran the command brew upgrade and now my Jupyter notebook is unable to find any of the installed python packages. I will use Numpy as the example.
When inside of a Jupyter notebook, I try to do
import numpy
I get the message:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'numpy'
If, however, I launch python in a terminal window, then I can import Numpy without issue.
I first checked that the package was installed correctly by re-issuing the install command
brew install numpy
which outputs:
Warning: numpy 1.18.4 is already installed and up-to-date
To reinstall 1.18.4, run `brew reinstall numpy`
I also ran
pip install numpy
and got:
Requirement already satisfied: numpy in /usr/local/lib/python3.7/site-packages (1.18.4)
Now, this is where I got confused because I expected the path to point to something like /usr/local/Cellar/, so I checked the path inside of the Jupyter notebook:
import sys
sys.path
which outputs:

Ok, so Homebrew wants Jupyter to use Python3.8? So I tried brew switch python 3.8 and got:
Error: python does not have a version "3.8" in the Cellar.
python's installed versions: 3.7.7
I feel like I'm out of my depth now and need help figuring out what to do next. I don't want to start by just changing paths around.

I figured out what to do — posting the solution for my future self and others who may stumble upon this.
Since Jupyerlab is in its own Cellar, the Python packages need to end up in the
/usr/local/Cellar/jupyterlab/x.y.z/libexec/lib/python3.x/site-packages
directory, where x, y, z are integers, so that the Jupyter kernel can find them.
You can do this by calling:
import sys
!{sys.executable} -m pip install 'package-name'
inside of the Jupyer notebook.
All is well, again.
I'm trying to display data using a pie chart in python, so i tried to install matplotlib using pip. After doing that, I tried importing matplotlib but I get an error: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'matplotlib'.
In the Command Prompt I typed 'pip install matplotlib' and everything appeared to be successful. This is the last line:

I've also tried 'python -m pip install -U matplotlib', but I still get a ModuleNotFoundError.
I've tried running the input statement in both python 3 and 2, neither worked.

There are various python installed in your OS. If you install matplotlib for somewhere the python that you are using does not search, you get importing errors. You should figure out which python you want to use and where the packages it searches.
check your python path. the matplotlib should be installed in the same path with your python environment.
I guess you use an IDE to run the python. some IDE have their own python environment.

I am learning Python in my free time. I am pretty new. I use PyCharm for IDE.
When I:
import numpy as np

When I:
pip3 install numpy
it says:

When I go to PyCharm - base interpreter is set to:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Version/3.7/bin/python3
The only suspicious thing I find is that Location of environment in PyCharm is set /Users/XXX/PycharmProjects/MachineLearning/venv
I read a little bit about environments and it makes logic if I have installed numpy in one env and use another in the IDE, but not sure how to check this.

It was really because of the virtual environment. I installed numpty in the specified in my PyCharm project virtual environment and it worked. I did this by opening PyCharm -> Preferences -> Project Interpreter and I saw that for my project the following virtual env is configured:
I activated it by source /Users/XXX/PycharmProjects/MachineLearning/venv/bin/activate
and then pip3 install numpy
Another option is to change the interpreter to some containing all packages installed.
I'm already installed numpy and it works in cmd.
my Python version is 3.7.2 and numpy version is 1.16.0
When I use numpy in windows cmd, It works.
import numpy is working well in the python interactive console.
But in pyCharm, it doesn't work and errors with No module named 'numpy'.
How can I solve it?
You probably arent using the same python installation in pycharm and in your console. Did you double-check in project settings ?
If you just want to install numpy, you can create a requirements.txt file and add numpy in it, pycharm will suggest to install it if not already done.
Alternatively, you could use a venv
I was trying to use the lmfit package for doing nonlinear least squares fit and I notices that the Canopy curated version is really old and doesn't have most of the objects. So I followed the instructions here https://support.enthought.com/entries/23389761 as I have done before no problem:
pip install --upgrade setuptools
pip install --upgrade lmfit
Now when I execute the same exact code some "import" statements (I suppose those involved with scimath) give:
ImportError: cannot import name scimath
Seems python standard library imports are fine e.g. import os.
I'm on Ubuntu Linux 14 with Canopy 1.5.2
What happened and how can I fix it and avoid breaking it again.
I solved the problem but I am still not sure why this occurred originally. I went into the package manager and uninstalled scimath reinstalled it and did explicit kernel restarts on my IPython notebooks and interpreters. This fixed it but I don't see why unless somehow the scimath installation was corrupted. Before that I tried restarting application, computer, and reinstalling canopy.
