This part of the code is supposed to call another program I've written somewhere in a separate file on a new tab.

I've been trying to make a text adventure game with Tkinter so I can package it all nicely as an app. I created a function that I can call from another file to update a label as the game output so I can keep the GUI setup simple, but I've been having a problem where the window won't show up until the code has finished running. I'm new to tkinter (and honestly not very good at Python in general) so this is probably a stupid question.
That's not how global is used. The global statement is only used inside a function, to state that you're going to modify a global. You can't actually make a global that crosses files, but your from gui import * will handle that.
The issue here is understanding event-driven programming. When you create a window, nothing gets drawn. All that does is send a number of messages to signal the core. The messages will not get fetched and dispatched until it gets into the .mainloop(). The main loop processes all the messages and does the drawing, which might queue up more messages.
So, you cannot use time.sleep(2) like that. As you saw, that will interrupt the process and prevent any drawing from being done. Instead, you will have to use window.after to request a callback after some number of seconds. The .mainloop monitors the timers, and will give you a call when time runs out. You cannot use time.sleep inside an event handler either, for the same reason; your GUI will freeze until your event handler returns.
Currently I'm working on a project of mine involving sensors, and showing that sensory data on a display via TKinter. Everythings written in Python 3.7.3.
The issue im currently handling, is to update the label in the window, while the mainloop is running.
What i mean by this, is that if i execute the script, first the window options get defined, then the update function gets defined with a while true loop. Then its supposed to start the window. Now because of the while true loop it does not reach the window.mainloop() point (obviously, the while loop doesn't break...). My interest was peaked and i tried to put the window.mainloop() function inside the while loop of the update (please don't blame me, i know my script is a spaghetti mess.) I figured out that i could run the whole thing in threads, and so i decided to thread the whole window process, and add queues for the sensor data. Now the while loop was still in the way and didnt work properly, and after a bit of googling i found a code snippet that might help me. After trying to implement it in my script, i got an exception "function init expects 3 arguments, but 4 were given.." (code below) and I'm kinda running out of ideas on this.
Bear in mind that im not raelly a developer, i just need a script that can handle sensor data, dispaly it in a window, and export the current data to a database. So go easy on the blame please.

The ultimate goal is to display my sensor data, with a 2 second refresh (the HZ rate of the Sensor), while the sensor continues to read every 2 seconds.
I'd also like to add that this is my first time using Python, since im, again, not really a developer yet.

most simple way of doing this would be using a button to execute a function and then including your while loop in that function,
Using an button gives you an point where you can start running while instead of directly starting it as soon as you run your program
Sample code should be something like this,

As there will be no user interaction, a button can invoked using button.invoke method such as following,

Python tkinter button.invoke method trouble
I am working on a large program that opens new windows from a desktop widget. The desktop widget has a 'ticker' style label that displays a piece of text representing an iteration through a list. My problem is when I first wrote the program I called mainloop() with each new window I opened. The result was the new window and program would run as designed, but the ticker would freeze. Even upon closing the newly created window, the ticker would not restart. So I removed the mainloop() line. The result of this is the ticker continues to run and I can work within the new window, but everything is soooo laggy. I suspect this has something to do with the after() method?
Attached is a test code that I am using to try to sort this out before applying the correct code to my program. And I'm sure you can tell by reading the code, but I am self taught and an absolute newb, so please dumb down the explanations if possible. Thank so much!

A tkinter application should always have exactly one instance ofTk, and you should call mainloop exactly once. If you have more than one instance the program will not likely work the way you expect. It's possible to make it work, but unless you understand exactly what is happening under the hood you should stick to this rule of thumb.
If you need more windows, create instances of Toplevel. You should not call mainloop for each extra window.
Also, you shouldn't have an infinite loop where you call after the way that you do. mainloop is already an infinite loop, you don't need another. There are several examples on this website of using after to call a function at regular intervals without creating a separate loop.
I want to make a GUI command line using the Text widget. For debugging purposes, I am trying to print whatever the user types into the separate GUI window to the system terminal. I know that it is frowned upon to mix GUI and Text Based commands into the same script, but I am just debugging, so forgive me 😉

My current issue is that when the mainloop starts, (of course) the while loop doesn't. If I were to move the while loop in front of the mainloop call, it would never call mainloop. I really want it to continuously check for new text.
Is there a way to like "pause" the mainloop, or just carry out the command, maybe on a new thread or something?
I want to avoid using main.after(), but if that is the only way, then so be it. ¯\(°_o)/¯
I recommend using main.after(), as it's the canonical way to do things like this in Tkinter. The following will also ensure that it only tries to print every second, instead of as fast as the console can handle it (as the while loop in your code would do if it worked).

I am currently making a chat application in python. I am having 2 separate codes: one for the server and one for the client. The server script is taking the login data of new clients that connects and in another thread manages the messages that he has to receive and send.
The client application is made into a class and works well, excepts that when the script requests the UI to show, the only new window is a empty one:

Found myself the mistake after searching all the night through the code. Apparently if i use this line:

All the objects point to the same value.
My guess is, the code that is creating the UI is throwing an error that you are not seeing. For example, are you importing DISABLED and WORD properly? If not, the code would fail after creating the frame but before creating the other widgets, leaving you with an empty widget.
One way to debug this is to give each toplevel and frame a distinct color. This lets you see which are visible and which are not -- maybe you're looking at a window or frame and thinking it's one thing when it's something else.
