I am using os.environ['my_key'] to read in a key from my .bashrc. For example, if my_key="123$abc" were in .bashrc then os.environ['my_key'] would return 123bc.
Is there a trick to read in the full key?

Try to escape $.
my_key="123\$abc"

How can I put an actual backslash in a string literal (not use it for an escape sequence)?

While adding an absolute path to my script because it has a \f in it the code won't run properly.
C:\Users\showoi\Desktop\website\repository\fileAdder\softwarelisting.xlsx
The file is in the same directory as the script but using a relative path won't work. No misspellings or anything.
Use python r string
path=r'C:\Users\showoi\Desktop\website\repository\fileAdder\softwarelisting.xlsx'
Use one of the following ways:
r"C:\Users\showoi\Desktop\website\repository\fileAdder\softwarelisting.xlsx"
"C:\\Users\\showoi\\Desktop\\website\\repository\\fileAdder\\softwarelisting.xlsx"
"C:/Users/showoi/Desktop/website/repository/fileAdder/softwarelisting.xlsx

I cant seem to write something like : "C:\Users\alon4\Desktop\Learning Material\Odyssey\Lab a2\Magnetism\data"
As a string to print or otherwise, i think its something to do with the slashes
There can be 3 ways :
1) Either use r (raw strings) before the actual string :
For example : r"C:\Users\alon4\Desktop\Learning Material\Odyssey\Lab a2\Magnetism\data"
2) Or use // like:
For example : "C:\\Users\\alon4\\Desktop\\Learning Material\\Odyssey\\Lab a2\\Magnetism\data"
3) Use slashes: "C:/Users/alon4/Desktop/Learning Material/Odyssey/Lab a2/Magnetism/data"

escaping {} brackets in triple quote Python strings [duplicate]

How do I escape curly-brace ({}) characters in a string while using .format (or an f-string)?

how can you format a string of this form in Python 3?
'''{name}{{name}}'''.format(name="bob")
the desired output is: bob{bob}, but the above gives: bob{name}.
one solution is to add another argument to format:
'''{name1}{name2}'''.format(name1="bob", name2="{bob}")
but this is excessive. is there a way to properly escape { such that inner {x} can still be interpolated and one can only pass a single name to format?
Add one more level of {}:
'''{name}{{{name}}}'''.format(name="bob")
which outputs:
bob{bob}

I need to split the string everytime ; shows up.
words = "LightOn;LightOff;LightStatus;LightClientHello;"
Output should be something like this:
LightOn
LightOff
LightStatus
LightClientHello
Simply, everytime it finds ; in a string, it has to split it.
Thank you for help
res = words.split(";")

Remove Blank Rows in CSV Using Python [duplicate]

Delete blank rows from CSV?

I've seen some threads on this, but none seem to be simple. I'm looking for a simple code to remove the blank rows in a CSV using python.
Alternatively (to the duplicate question) you can consider using grep
grep -Pv ^,*$ input_file.csv > output_file.csv
e.g. any line in input_file.csv that is not either blank or solely composed of commas get redirected to output_file.csv
