Horizontal and vertical scrollview on same screen kivy - python

I'm trying to create a screen which has a horizontal scrollview at the top of the page, taking up ~25% of the vertical space and a vertical scrollview taking up the rest of the space (and then being able to scroll further down the screen).
I've managed to create a horizontal scrollview but can't get the vertical scrollview to work on the same screen.
py file:
import kivy
from kivy.app import App
from kivy.uix.screenmanager import ScreenManager, Screen
from kivy.lang import Builder
from kivy.uix.label import Label
from kivy.uix.button import Button
from kivy.uix.image import Image

Window.clearcolor = (1,1,1,1)
class Window(Screen):
pass
class MyApp(App):
theme_cls = ThemeManager()
def build(self):
kv = Builder.load_file("kivy.kv")
self.sm = WindowManager()
screens = [Window(name="window")]
for screen in screens:
self.sm.add_widget(screen)
self.sm.current = "window"
return self.sm
if __name__ == '__main__':
MyApp().run()

I'd like them to be independent of each other, so you can either scroll horizontal on the top scrollview or scroll veritcally through the buttons on the boxlayouts on the vertical scrollview

It took some work to get your MCVE working, but here is the part of your kv that I modified to get scrolling working in both directions with two ScrollViews:

Multiple recycleView are stacking

I've created an app with a main page that is going to have multiple sections with recycleView data. I have added the first but when I try to add a second (eventually adding 4 to replace the APPS, OTHER, etc sections) the second recycleView shows up on top of the first one (see top left of image) instead of next to it like I would expect. I tried putting both of the recycleView widgets inside a boxlayout but the second RV still overlays the top.
The information should be filling the second box on the right here instead of overlaying on the far top left

Hiding or Adding?

I want to create an app in Python Kivy but I have stuck in some part. I want some additional show-ups in my app. Briefly, that is a selection app. So after make some sellections and and press "calculate" button, I want to show some hidden results. And when you confirm those results you should press "confirm" button that shows new selections which were hidden as well.
I can make it with BooleanProperty but in that case when height: "0dp" and opacity: 0, it still keeps unwanted empty space in widget. How can I get rid of the empty space ?
little comment: when you make opticity 1 while height:"0dp" remain, you will see they are still there. height 0 is not working properly.

sorry for long codes. maybe it helps you in some parts.
I have solved my problem.
Well, if you want to add a different class to main your main class with a button or something, you should use "add_widget". But while you doing it, you need to convert your class to objectproperty first and than, use ids for id of your main widget;
cal2= ObjectProperty()
def btn4(self):
self.cal2 = MaterialS() #MaterialS is my class with different widget
self.ids.scd.add_widget(self.cal2, index=0) #scd is the id of my main widget, index =0 help me to insert to the bottom

Scroll does not work in kivy Layout of buttons

<Builder_Screen>
ScrollView:
do_scroll_y:True
FloatLayout:
Button:
text:"Heading"
size_hint_x: .25
size_hint_y: .25
text_size: self.size
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
pos: 0,10
Button:
text:"Paragraph"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_x: .25
size_hint_y: .25
pos: (0,self.height)
I have some buttons like these with positions like pos: 0, self.height2 , self.height3 etc.
But, the scroll layout does not work as intended.
Can you help me regarding that!...
According to the documentation, regarding the child of a ScrollView:
By default, the size_hint is (1, 1), so the content size will fit your
ScrollView exactly (you will have nothing to scroll). You must
deactivate at least one of the size_hint instructions (x or y) of the
child to enable scrolling.
So, you probably need to set size_hint_y: None for your FloatLayout. That will cause further problems, because you have size_hint_y values for your Buttons. You can set the heights of your Buttons and eliminate the size_hint_y values. Another approach would be to use a GridLayout:
from kivy.app import App
from kivy.lang import Builder
from kivy.uix.screenmanager import Screen
kv = '''
<Builder_Screen>
ScrollView:
do_scroll_y:True
effect_cls: 'ScrollEffect'
GridLayout:
cols: 2
size_hint_y: None
height: self.minimum_height
padding: 5
spacing: 5
Button:
text:"Heading1"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
Button:
text:"Paragraph1"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
Button:
text:"Heading2"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
Button:
text:"Paragraph2"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
Button:
text:"Heading3"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
Button:
text:"Paragraph3"
halign:"center"
valign:"center"
size_hint_y: None
height: 48
'''
class Builder_Screen(Screen):
pass
class TestApp(App):
def build(self):
Builder.load_string(kv)
return Builder_Screen()
TestApp().run()
Note that every Button has an explicit height. That is required if you use height: self.minimum_height for their container.

Kivy self manager get screen - not working

recently I try to make that app with python and kivy. After tons of hours googling everything together i more or less have everything i want. Only one thing is missing:
I have several screens. At the beginning of the App I have a menu. After that i have lots of questions; all of them have the same text and buttons in the bottom of the screen. I managed to make that the following way:
<firstquestion>:
name: "firstquestion"
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 1
GridLayout:
cols: 1
NeuLabelinBox:
text: "Here the Question"
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 0.1
UnteresMenue:
Please notice "UnteresMenue" which refer another Class in the kv language. I think I somehow mixed 2 Screens together in one. The kv code of "UnteresMenue"
<UnteresMenue>:
name: "UnteresMenue"
#id: UnteresMenue
GridLayout:
cols: 1
NeuButton:
text: root.labeltext
Now for the python part:
class UnteresMenue(Screen):
labeltext = StringProperty("Answer")
That works fine. But now I want to change the text of the label in this "UnteresMenue", when I press a certain button at the beginning of the app (Start Questions). The label in the "Untermenue" should change to a certain text. So to do this:
text: "Exam"
self.manager.get_screen('UnteresMenue').labeltext = text
For all other classes this method works fine. But not for that certain class "UnteresMenue". Is it because it is implemented in the question and therefor kv does not recognize its properties?
For any small hints I would be more than grateful!
Here an "Mini" Example:
In the Main Menu you get to the "Exam" Section (Press Here in the example). While entering this Section (Prüfungsmodus) the property of the questions should change. "Press Here" again to get to the questions.
Normally it says in the Top of the questions "This should change" And THIS is supposed to change the label into "Zeit" while entering the Prüfungsmodus Screen (Class def on_enter, in the python file), but it doesn't...

The problem is that you have two different instances of the OberesMenue Screen.
There is one created in your python:
sm.add_widget(OberesMenue(name="OberesMenue"))
And you have another created in your kv:
<ersteFrage>:
name: "ersteFrage"
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 1
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 0.08
OberesMenue:
In order to acces the second instance of OberesMenue, you can add an id:
<ersteFrage>:
name: "ersteFrage"
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 1
GridLayout:
cols: 1
size_hint_y: 0.08
OberesMenue:
id: in_ersteFrage
Then in your on_enter() method of Pruefungsmodus, you can change that instance by using:
def on_enter(self):
text = "Zeit"
self.manager.get_screen('ersteFrage').ids.in_ersteFrage.labeltext = text #DAS Klappt nicht
Note that this changes the Label in the second instance of OberesMenue, but has no effect on the first. Your original code was changing the first instance, but not the second. And you can't put the same instance in both places at the same time, since a Widget can have only one parent at a time.
So, if those instances are intended to be identical, then you need to change the Label in both.
If you really want to share the same instance, you can keep your own record of where it is and use remove_widget() and add_widget() to move it from one parent to another.

Kivy Sidebar plus content layout

I want a fixed width right sidebar on my kivy app with a list of buttons and a main area where to draw things, I am not sure which is the right way to go about it (i.e. which layout), here's where I am at so far:
layoutApp.py...
from kivy.app import App
class layoutApp(App):
pass
if __name__ == '__main__':
layoutApp().run()
And layoutApp.kv...
BoxLayout:
orientation: 'vertical'
BoxLayout:
Button:
size_hint_x: 2
BoxLayout:
orientation: 'vertical'
size_hint_x: 0.5
Button:
Button:
Button:
Button:
Which produces:
The issue is that sizes are relative, i.e. the right sidebar width changes depending on screen seize/resize which is not the intended behavior.
Thanks !
You can set the width of the sidebar, and then have the large button width depend on that by using ids:
BoxLayout:
id: top_box
orientation: 'vertical'
BoxLayout:
Button:
size_hint_x: None
width: top_box.width - bottom_box.width
BoxLayout:
id: bottom_box
orientation: 'vertical'
size_hint_x: None
width: 150
Button:
Button:
