ImportError: No module named absl.testing - python

I've been trying to run the Object detection API, at the point to test if the instalation worked:
python object_detection/builders/model_builder_test.py
I got the following error:
File "object_detection/builders/model_builder_test.py", line 18, in <module>
from absl.testing import parameterized
ImportError: No module named absl.testing
I couldn't find a solution anywhere. Already tried pip install absl-py and pip3 install absl-py but without success.
Hope you could help me.

Got it working by using python3 object_detection/builders/model_builder_test.py
instead of python object_detection/builders/model_builder_test.py. I forgot that I was using TF for python3.

First install absl-py by running command if you are using tensorflow
with python3
sudo pip3 install absl-py
otherwise
sudo pip install absl-py
After that run
python3 object_detection/builders/model_builder_test.py
Cheers, You done it !!

Why do I still get the "module not found" error even after having installed the package using pip install?

I am trying to create an image processing program using convolutions. I need the package scikit-image, specifically this:
from skimage.exposure import rescale_intensity
I have repeatedly installed scikit-image using pip install scikit-image in my terminal (Mac). I did this in the folder where my convolutions.py file is located (is this what is meant by the PYTHONPATH?). However, I always get an error message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "Convolutions.py", line 6, in <module>
from skimage.exposure import rescale_intensity
ImportError: No module named skimage.exposure
How do I solve the problem?
make sure you are installing the package on the same version of python which you are running. On a mac, python by default runs python-2.7, and the command python3 runs python-3.x. Also, pip by default installs packages to python-2.7. To install them on python3 try running
python3 -m pip install scikit-image
or simply
pip3 install scikit-image

Pytorch is installed but is not working on ubuntu 18.04

I am trying to install Pytorch via pip on ubuntu 18.04.I have python 3.6 and my laptop is HP-Pavilion notebook 15
The installation seems to be right because i get the message:
Installing collected packages: torch, torchvision Successfully
installed torch-1.3.1+cpu torchvision-0.4.2+cpu
i run the verification code and it is ok
from __future__ import print_function
import torch
x = torch.rand(5, 3)
print(x)
However, when i close the terminal or reboot and try to run he same code i get the error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "torch.py", line 2, in
import torch
AttributeError: module 'torch' has no attribute 'rand'
How are you executing the python script? Which python are you using? Maybe you installed the package in a different python version?
Try to set alias to the python you want to use:
alias python=/usr/local/bin/python3.6
Then pip install the package with that python alias you will always be using.
python pip install <package name>
Python now will install the package in the python files with the alias python - heading to files: /usr/local/bin/python3.6
Let me know if the error still occurs!
Install pytorch using pip through the below command:
pip3 install torch==1.3.1+cpu torchvision==0.4.2+cpu -f https://download.pytorch.org/whl/torch_stable.html
for any reference go through the official website of pytorch.
Change your file .py to another name, you named torch.py when you import torch it will call ur torch.py

tensorflow python 3.7.2 import error with anaconda [duplicate]

I have installed Ancaconda3 and Tensorflow. When I try to import Tensorflow in python shell I receive the following error:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'numpy.core._multiarray_umath'
ImportError: numpy.core.multiarray failed to import
The above exception was the direct cause of the following exception:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 980, in _find_and_load SystemError:
<class '_frozen_importlib._ModuleLockManager'> returned a result with
an error set ImportError: numpy.core._multiarray_umath failed to
import ImportError: numpy.core.umath failed to import
I am not sure what the problem is as numpy is installed on my system and can be successfully imported in python.
I am using Windows10.
I also had the same issue.
It got resloved once I upgraded the numpy from 1.15.4 to 1.16.1.
If you're using pip:
pip install numpy --upgrade
Numpy that came with Anaconda3 is of version 1.15.4. so i upgraded and it worked.
Side note: if you're also using scikit-image in your script, be aware that numpy 1.16.3 has a conflict with old versions of scikit-image (e.g. you may get ImportError: cannot import name '_validate_lengths'). In that case, pip install --upgrade scikit-image from terminal solved the issue for me.
Kindly check whether you have installed the numpy package from pip. Because if you are running on conda evironment, then all packages need to be downloaded from there.
Please use the below mentioned statement for this purpose
conda install -c anaconda numpy
Also make sure that the numpy version supports the Python version you are using.
You can use two options in python 3.6
Install
py pip -m install numpy==1.14.5
Upgrade
py pip install numpy --upgrade
Note: the version most recently is 1.14.5
I also had this issue with python 3.8.9 and Numpy 1.24.1.
Downgrading to Numpy 1.21.0 fixed the issue.

pyinstaller No module named grpc

My goal is to build an executable using pyinstaller. The python script I am trying to build imports grpc. The following is an example that illustrates the problem called hello.py.
import grpc
if __name__ == '__main__':
print "hello world"
I do pyinstaller hello.py and that produces the expected dist directory. Then I run it like ./dist/hello/hello and I get error ImportError: No module named grpc.
So then I installed grpc using pip install grpc. When I rebuild the artifact I now get error Import grpc:No module named gevent.socket.
Reading online indicated that the correct items to install were actually grpcio and grpcio-tools. So I tried pip uninstall grpc pip install grpcio and pip install grpcio-tools. Doing this and rebuilding the artifact gave me error ImportError: No module named pkg_resources. Trying to pip install pkg_resources gives error: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pkg_resources
Having all grpcio grpcio-tools and grpc install gives the same error: Import grpc:No module named gevent.socket
This seems like it should be a very simple task. I simply want to use pyinstaller to build an artifact that has a dependency on grpc, how do I do this?
I faced the same issue. I referred this document: gRPC
As per the documentation, first upgrade your pip to version 9 or higher.
Then use the following commands:
$ python -m pip install grpcio
$ python -m pip install grpcio-tools
It worked for me!
I am working on doing a PyInstaller/cx_freeze distributable of a python app using grpc.
Can you try adding --hidden-import=pkg_resources and see what happens?
This solved it for me

ImportError: cannot import name 'VideoCapture'

I'm writing a quick Python script that uses VideoCapture. At the start of the script, I have this:
from skvideo.io import VideoCapture
When I run the script, I get:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "getVids.py", line 4, in <module>
from skvideo.io import VideoCapture
ImportError: cannot import name 'VideoCapture'
When I run:
pip3 install skvideo
I get:
Collecting skvideo
Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement skvideo (from versions: )
No matching distribution found for skvideo
Any idea how to fix / where to go from here?
Thanks!
The pip package providing this python module/package is call sk-video.
pip3 install sk-video
You should try
sudo pip install sk-video
as suggested in their installation guide. http://www.scikit-video.org/stable/
This smells like an environment variable problem. You shouldn't need sudo or administrator privileges to do this.
First, make sure that you run your script inside a virtual environment:
Create a Virtualenv: virtualenv my_env
Activate it: source my_env/bin/activate
Install your requirements: pip install sk-video
Run your script: python getVids.py
