PyhtonError ImportError: No module named six - python

I am running Python 2.7.13 on Windows 7, and I got this error:
ImportError: No module named six
But I found six.py and six.pyc in "C:\Python27\Lib\site-package\pip\_vendor\six.py", ""C:\Python27\Lib\site-package\pip\_vendor\six.pyc".
Can I copy this file six.py into my project? Or I must download and install the module named six?
What function does six.py or module named six have?

You can run to make sure if six is properly installed or not,
pip install six
if output says module is already installed and still the problem persists then you can visit and download the wheel file of six module from the link : https://pypi.python.org/pypi/six
To install wheel file again method is same:
pip install wheel_file_name.whl
Yes, you can install six into a python project and for that you don't have to copy the .py or .pyc file of six, for that you have to create a virtual enviroment in the project, follow this link on how to create and manage a virtual environment for python project in windows : http://pymote.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install/windows_virtualenv.html

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'psycopg2' (But it is installed)

I've been stuck on a part of a Udemy course. Even the (very helpful) tutor on there has run of ideas. When I try and run my script I get:
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'psycopg2'
I've done pip install psycopg2 and pip install psycopg2-2.8.4-cp37-cp37m-win_amd64.whl. Both result in 'requirement already satisfied'. I tried CTRL+SHIFT+P, Select Interpreter, and got the same problem with all of the three options. Only difference is Python3.8.0 gives me a Unable to import 'psycopg2' pylint(import-error) [1,1] error as well.
C:\Python\Database>pip install psycopg2
Requirement already satisfied: psycopg2 in c:\users\jeff\anaconda3\lib\site-packages (2.8.4)
C:\Python\Database>script1.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Python\Database\script1.py", line 1, in <module>
import psycopg2
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'psycopg2'
Edit
I still can't figure this out. And now I just got the same problem with Tweepy. ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'tweepy' after I'd just successfully installed it. And similar error in the problems tab on VSC Unable to import 'tweepy' pylint(import-error) [1,1].
Psycopg project has modified the way they distribute the package. Starting from version 2.8.0, psycopg2 wheel on Pypi is a source distribution. To get the same package you used to install, you have to
pip install psycopg2-binary
Explanations can be found in psycopg-2.7.4 release note:
The psycopg2 wheel package will be renamed from release 2.8; in order to keep installing from binary please use "pip install psycopg2-binary" instead. For details see: </docs/install.html#binary-install-from-pypi>.
I guess you need to first install the dependencies.
sudo apt-get install build-dep python-psycopg2
Now run
pip install pyschopg2
I had a similar issue. I solved it by installing psycopg2 using PyCharm UI as follows :
Go to Current interpreter at the bottom of the window
Python Interpreter
Interpreter Settings
Interpreter Settings
Press (+) to add a package
Add package
Type psycopg2 on the search bar and press Install Package at the botton
Install psycopg2

Python Virtualenv : ImportError: No Module named Zroya

I was trying to work with python virtualenv on the Zroya python wrapper around win32 API. Although I did installed the modules using pip, and although they are shown in cli using the command
pip freeze
,when trying to execute the .py file that uses the modules it shows the following error.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "TesT.PY", line 2, in <module>
from zroya import NotificationCenter
ImportError: No module named 'zroya'
What is the reason for this cause ? I'm using python 3.4. When checked on
>>>help("modules")
on python cli, the modules that were installed using pip aren't listed.
Your virtualEnv is separate from OS Python environment.
Check whether you installed 'zroya' module in OS Python env or virtualEnv.
Run bin/activate in your virtual env, and check if 'zroya' module exists
>>>help("modules")
If no module named Zroya, run install command pip install xxx after activating virtual env.
Installing zroya should solve your problem.
Installation instructions: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/zroya
There seems to be some issue with the pip install. Copying the zroya directory from github repository over to PYTHONPATH resolved the conflict.

pyinstaller No module named grpc

My goal is to build an executable using pyinstaller. The python script I am trying to build imports grpc. The following is an example that illustrates the problem called hello.py.
import grpc
if __name__ == '__main__':
print "hello world"
I do pyinstaller hello.py and that produces the expected dist directory. Then I run it like ./dist/hello/hello and I get error ImportError: No module named grpc.
So then I installed grpc using pip install grpc. When I rebuild the artifact I now get error Import grpc:No module named gevent.socket.
Reading online indicated that the correct items to install were actually grpcio and grpcio-tools. So I tried pip uninstall grpc pip install grpcio and pip install grpcio-tools. Doing this and rebuilding the artifact gave me error ImportError: No module named pkg_resources. Trying to pip install pkg_resources gives error: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pkg_resources
Having all grpcio grpcio-tools and grpc install gives the same error: Import grpc:No module named gevent.socket
This seems like it should be a very simple task. I simply want to use pyinstaller to build an artifact that has a dependency on grpc, how do I do this?
I faced the same issue. I referred this document: gRPC
As per the documentation, first upgrade your pip to version 9 or higher.
Then use the following commands:
$ python -m pip install grpcio
$ python -m pip install grpcio-tools
It worked for me!
I am working on doing a PyInstaller/cx_freeze distributable of a python app using grpc.
Can you try adding --hidden-import=pkg_resources and see what happens?
This solved it for me

python cannot find module that is installed on windows

I have installed the requests module
C:\Python34\Scripts\easy_install.exe requests
i got to the folder location
C:\Python34\Lib\site-packages\requests-2.13.0-py3.4.egg\requests
I have a path variable in system
C:\Python34\Lib\site-packages
yet when i run my script
C:\Users\beast\Desktop>update.py
I get the error No module named 'requests'
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Users\beast\Desktop\plex_playlist_update.py", line 17, in <module>
import requests
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'requests'
I tried installing using pip just in case
python -m pip install requests
Requirement already satisfied: requests in c:\python34\lib\site-packages\requests-2.13.0-py3.4.egg
I am new to python and I cant find an answer anywhere.
UPDATE:
I found a command to check my python search location.
C:\Users\beast\Desktop>python -c "import site; print(site.getsitepackages())"
['C:\\Python34', 'C:\\Python34\\lib\\site-packages']
I think it has to do with C:\Python34 vs C:\python34? How do i check or fix this?
The problem here is maybe because of the different versions of python installed.
If you are a Windows user, you can go to Path in Environment variables and remove the paths to unnecessary versions of python (if any). Modules installed for one version of python won't work in another version.
So I ended up going with python environment. Per python documentation it is the way to go anyway. The below command are run on the root folder of the python app.
py -m venv env
then
./env/Scripts/activate
I then ran my pip upgrade and everything is working. Obviously this did not fix it computer wide. just for my python app. But from documentation this is better because of version control of the whole enviroment.
This creates a "env" folder at the root which will have all the packages installed. Need to install all requirements again or use the requirements.txt file.

distribute to install a package in python

I am trying to install a package named unicodecsv ->setup
python - setup.py
I got the following error message:
ImportError: No module named setuptools
I found that Python 3 required to use distribute 0.6.39 to install the package. But what I do not know - how can I install my package once I have installed the distribute?
Please help me in this regard.
