I'm currently trying to scrape data off a website, but using the code beneath it would return an empty array " [] " for some reason. I can't seem to figure out the reasoning behind it. When I check the html generated there seems to be a lot of \t \r \n. I am unsure what the issue seems to be with my code.

EDIT: Found the workaround, used selenium to open the page and grab the source that way instead.

there is no need to use selenium
There are no true HTML rows in the document. The rows are dynamically generated by JavaScript. BeautifulSoup cannot execute JavaScript.
If you view the contents of the html.text variable, you will notice that the content is generated dynamically and does not have any valid elements.

What you see in your inspector is not the same as what you get when you use requests. Instead of using the dev console, view the page source.
Those parts of the page are generated by JavaScript, thus, will not appear when you request the page via requests.

To get javascript execution, consider using selenium instead of requests.

I am trying to webscrape and am currently stuck on how I should continue with the code. I am trying to create a code that scrapes the first 80 Yelp! reviews. Since there are only 20 reviews per page, I am also stuck on figuring out how to create a loop to change the webpage to the next 20 reviews.

General notes/tips:
Use the "Inspect" tool on pages you want to scrape.
As for your question, its also going to work much nicer if you visit the website and parse BeautifulSoup and then use the soup object in functions - visit once, parse as many times as you want. You won't be blacklisted by websites as often this way. An example structure below.

If you inspect the page, each review appears as a copy of a template. If you take each review as an individual object and parse it, you can get the reviews you are looking for. The review template has the class id:lemon--li__373c0__1r9wz u-space-b3 u-padding-b3 border--bottom__373c0__uPbXS border-color--default__373c0__2oFDT
As for pagination, the pagination numbers are contained in a template with class="lemon--div__373c0__1mboc pagination-links__373c0__2ZHo6 border-color--default__373c0__2oFDT nowrap__373c0__1_N1j"
The individual page number links are contained within a-href tags, so just write a for loop to iterate over the links.
To get the next page, you're going to have to follow the "Next" link. The problem here is that the link is just the same as before plus #. Open the Inspector [Ctrl-Shift-I in Chrome, Firefox] and switch to the network tab, then click the next button, you'll see a request to something like:

This is JSON. The only problem is that you'll need to fool Yelp's servers into thinking you're browsing the website, by sending their headers to them, otherwise you get different data that doesn't look like comments.

My usual approach is to copy-paste the headers not prefixed with a colon (ignore :authority, etc) directly into a triple-quoted string called raw_headers, then run
headers = dict([[h.partition(':')[0], h.partition(':')[2]] for h in raw_headers.split('\n')])
over them, and pass them as an argument to requests with:
requests.get(url, headers=headers)
Some of the headers won't be necessary, cookies might expire, and all sorts of other issues might arise but this at least gives you a fighting chance.

I'm trying to web scrape the "Recommended Rating", which in this case at the time of writing is 2. I've tried:

This doesn't work either, I'm just getting the actual source without the dynamically generated content. When I click "View Source" in Chrome, it's not there. I tried saving the webpage in chrome. Didn't work.
Then I discovered that if I save the entire webpage, including images and css-files and everything, the source code is different from the one where I just save the HTML.
The HTML-file I get when I save the entire webpage using Chrome DOES contain the information that I need, and at first I was thinking about using pyautogui to just Ctrl + S every webpage, but there must be another way.
The information that I need is obviosly there, in the html-code, but how do I get it without downloading the entire web page?
Try this to execute the dynamically generated content (JavaScript):

The CSS selector, div.rating-text, is working just fine and is unique on the page. Returning .text will give you the value you are looking for.
First, you need to wait for the element to be clickable, then make sure you scroll down to the element before getting the rating. Try

I am trying to scrape website, but I encountered a problem. When I try to scrape data, it looks like the html differs from what I see on google inspect and from what I get from python. I get this with http://edition.cnn.com/election/results/states/arizona/house/01 I tried to scrape election results. I used this script to check HTML part of the webpage, and I noticed that they different. There is no classes that I need, like section-wrapper.

I am currently going through the Web Scraping section of AutomateTheBoringStuff and trying to write a script that extracts translated words from Google Translate using BeautifulSoup4.
I inspected the html content of a page where 'Explanation' is the translated word:

Using BeautifulSoup4, I tried different selectors but nothing would return the translated word. Here are a few examples I tried, but they return no results at all:

I even copied the selector directly from the Developer Tools, which gave me #result_box > span. This again returns no results.
Can someone explain to me how to use BeautifulSoup4 for my purpose? This is my first time using BeautifulSoup4 but I think I am using BeautifulSoup more or less correctly because the selector
soup.select('span[id="result_box"]')
gets me the outer span element**

The result_box div is the correct element but your code only works when you save what you see in your browser as that includes the dynamically generated content, using requests you get only the source itself bar any dynamically generated content. The translation is generated by an ajax call to the url below:
