I just started trying out PyCharm, and while it is very nice, I found the interactive console in debugger (that can be activated with "Show Python Prompt" on a breakpoint) is unusably slow. If I keep pressing enter, for example, after 2-3 tries, I have to wait several seconds for the next prompt to show up.
Is this a common experience? I'm running Pycharm with a pretty fast machine (with i7-3770 CPU) so I was wondering if something is wrong.
I too have experienced the same problem quite a few times but With every new version released new problem too pop out . Its not the first time PyCharm is giving some one a hard time. In previous version the IDE would just stop working or not debug at all .
The best way to solve this is by writing to Jet Brains so they can find and solve the issue and release a new update.

I am learning Python (v 3.7) on a Mac using PyCharm. As I practice using the turtle library, the program runs without error, outputs the correct graphics, but then the graphics screen disappears immediately after the code completes runnning. Adding time.sleep(5) at the end of my program persists it and also shows that the focus changed from PyCharm to a Python program menu (which I can't find or turn on in the hope of keeping running).
When I use Thonny, the output persists, so I can check my work. How can I make it persist in PyCharm?
A well-structured Python turtle program will end with a call to mainloop() or one of its variants (exitonclick(), done()) This turns control over to the underlying tkinter event handler which will keep your window open, awaiting user events. Without this, the program simply ends and the window closes.
You don't need time.sleep() nor input("Press Enter to continue..."). Some Python programming environments clash with mainloop() but even those tend to disable it behind the scenes so the same code works everywhere.
First, do not use PyCharm to test. If you like it, more power to you, but personally, I have had many issues with output and PyCharm. Learn the command line, since you are using Mac. CodeAcacdemy and LinuxJournery have really good resources on that subject. Second, if you are still having issues, please reinstall trutle, Python 3.7 (there were some issues wiht it displaying on Mac), and macOS itself. Have a great day!

Problems getting pygame to show anything but a blank screen on Macos Mojave
I recently opened Spyder after a really long time, and my IPython console immediately showed some leftover commands? Do they affect my next code, and if they do, how can I get rid of them? Screenshot
EDIT Solved: all i had to do is turn off symbolic mathematics in preferences/ipython console/advanced settings. When I turn it back on, it shows again. I would like to know is there any better solution for this?
This is mostly a question regarding work-flow in Spyder, and not a pure programming question. If anyone thinks it has no place here, then please let me know and I'll remove it.
Here we go:
I'm running Spyder on a Windows 64-bit operating system. The interaction between the Spyder IDE and IPython console depends on how you choose to run your code, and I would like to specify how this interaction works.
Among several options to run parts of the code, the difference between the following two is what puzzles me:
Option 1 - Select parts of the code and hit F9
This runs the selected code. No surprise there.
Hit F9 again, and the same selection is executed once more.
Option 2 - Run the same selection using Cells (#%%) and Ctrl+Enter
The code is run just like before. But hit Ctrl-Enter again, and nothing happens. Probably because the IPython console now is the active window.
I would like to find some way of changing this so I can use Ctrl+Enter and run the cell contents multiple times without having to make the Spyder IDE the active window by manually clicking on it. I don't know if this is possible at all. Googling and messing around in the settings under Run / configure and Tools / Preferences has so far been useless.
Thank you for any suggestions!
P.S
In case you're wondering why this is such a big deal to me, I'm rendering multiple charts and exporting them to Power Point with minor changes each time the code is run. This way, new parts of the charts (lines, textboxes, etc) are revealed when I'm working my way through a finished Power Point presentation. And for my basic data science needs, this has turned out to be a pretty much optimal work-flow. Except, of course, that I have to manually select the Spyder IDE each time I run different selections of the code.
In the latest spyder version, the keyboard shortcut to run the highlighted lines of code is F9 but it doesn't seem to work.
Go change it from TOOLS>>PREFERENCES>>KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS then double click on any shortcut you want to change and change with your shortcut. But be very careful if you used the same shortcut that is used for any other work then for that it will remove.
I changed the shortcut for 'run selection' from F9 to ctrl + Enter
in Option 2, you should use Shift+Enter instead
How do you prevent spyder IDE from automatically closing the window after executing a program?
Windows 7
Anaconda 2.7 package.
I don't have this issue with geany. I'm sure I need some sort of command in the compiling options but I've googled for a couple hours and haven't found anything about this extremely EXTREMELY simple problem.
My test code:
for i in range(10):
print(1)
I want to see all of the 1s sitting there in front of me until I click close.
I created an executeable of my Python script. Everything works just fine on my first computer but when I try to run this very same executeable in another computer, it wont work. When I try to run my executeable I see that computer tries to open it, because command prompt window appears but nothing else happens, prompt window will disappear. Problem can't be in computer, because both my computers are 32 bit Windows machines and I have done similar things before but this kind of error I see first time.
I don't want to post my code at first, because it is more than 500 lines long. But I will give some more specifications about my problem.
This program I create is actually advanced version of application i made earlier. And earlier version worked fine in both of my computers. This advanced version, I am working on now, is developed into many standalone Python scripts unlike first one which was only one script. Could this be the source of my problem? Should I do something different when running setup.py now when I have many scripts?
And then there is third version of my application. Executeable of it runs fine on computer where I created it, but in my second computer it wont run either. But this time I get error too. When I run this program in my second computer the opening screen of aplication appears, there are some buttons which are meant to open other scripts, when they are clicked on. But when I click them I get following error: The system cannot find the path specified.
If someone is willing to look into my long code, then I am willing to share it. But again I dont want to post it here.
I am using Python 2.7 and windows 7 in my first computer and windows XP on my second computer.
I would be very grateful if someone points me right direction which helps me to solve my problem.
