I am installing cython to my python.
I unzipped the tar.gz and did the build-install routine.
Then, setup.py told me:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "setup.py", line 238, in <module>
compile_cython_modules(cython_profile, cython_compile_more, cython_with_refnanny)
File "setup.py", line 170, in compile_cython_modules
from Cython.Distutils import build_ext
ImportError: No module named Cython.Distutils
So it means, I need cython to install cython?
Or did I miss something important?
The reason lays in 'rz' command which did not commit a intact transfer but gave no error.
The package I unzipped was a broken one uploaded by others. I downloaded another and finally got it right.
suggestion: use following command to check your package's integrity first.
>md5sum sth.tar.gz show checksum
>du -h st.tar.gz show human-readable file size
And thanks Kevin Guan for the suggestions and help.

I installed anaconda with python 2.7 recently and I'm trying to run a script which uses pandas, but it doesn't work. I looked around and I haven't managed to find a solution yet. I'm running windows 10. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I don't know what setup.py it refers to in the error message. Running this just gives
python setup.py build_ext --inplace --force

My issue is possibly similar to link
but thought I'd ask jic. I'm on osx and trying to use jedi-vim. I installed jedi using pip and then jedi-vim by cloning into the dir that my vim config uses for loading packages. this one for reference. When I start vim with a python program I get the "Please install Jedi if..." message. I cloned vim 74 and configured with +python and +conceal. After still getting the error I looked into the code and found it was an import error.
As an aside, this isn't the best help message. Better might be "Unable to import jedi. Have you installed Jedi?"
I tried import jedi from within vim, as :python import jedi

If this is a build issue, is there a good reference for building vim on mac?
I have Windows 8 64 bit and Python 2.11 64 bit. I install VTK library using pip command. It shows the following error while running:

My PATH are:

Thanks for your help.
I could solve the problem with uninstalling .vtk 5 and installing vtk 6.2. 0 from http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/. I also install PyQt4
In my case, the problem was resolved by adding PyQt4's directory to PATH, as suggested here. That is, the directory similar to
C:\Python27\Lib\site-packages\PyQt4
which contains the DLL that it's looking for.

First question is, why does Python not simply include this MySQLdb module?
OK, just fine, try to search to solve this message.
I have looked around stackoverflow.com for installing this module but did not have a good result.
Download this module at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/
Comes to the installation of this module on my Windows Vista system.
After the extraction of the package, I run the cmd prompt to continue with the installation:
$ python setup.py install
Again it showed me one other message:

ImportError: No module named setuptools
Playing around with this error message, I know that there is the ez_setup.py within the package:
$python ez_setup.py
It seems that everything is OK:

Now comes back to the setup.py to install again:
$python setup.py install
It again gave me one other error message:

How can I fix this problem?
Did you try looking here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/files/
That is the download area of MySQLdb project, it has nothing to do with django, so your question is incorrect - django does not make switching database backends hard, you just change one line. And of course, your python installation should support that database first, so by downloading binary package for Windows from the link I gave above (chose correct version to match your version of python) you can avoid all the hassle of compiling the source release.
Most probably you need either MySQL-python-1.2.2.win32-py2.5.exe or MySQL-python-1.2.2.win32-py2.4.exe
Uh, this isn't Django, this is you downloading some unspecified Python environment and expecting it to magically do everything exactly the way you wanted it to. Find a good tutorial on this and follow the instructions.
BTW, this is a very helpful forum, but giving no specifics and then delivering a non-question with an attitude is not a good way to get people to feel helpful.
I once had the same problem running Python and MySQL on the same computer. Like the guys/gals said above, Python does not come with built-in support for MySQL, so you will need to download the connectors.
The link given above by #kibitzer will most likely not work on Windows successfully, so go here to download a copy of the connector that works with windows. It comes with installer and no need to run setup.py script manually.
I tried to run the following command, in the folder of my Django project:
