I want to use this set: Ubuntu 12.04 + Python 3.3 + Django 1.6 + MySQL 5.5;
For support MySQL i used "Connector/Python Django Backend" (link).
My settings:
DATABASES = {
'default': {
'NAME': 'test',
'ENGINE': 'mysql.connector.django',
'USER': 'root',
'PASSWORD': '****',
'OPTIONS': {
'autocommit': True,
},
}
}
This is work.
But yet i want to use "South". I successfully installed "South".
pip install south==0.8.4
INSTALLED_APPS = (
'django.contrib.admin',
'django.contrib.auth',
'django.contrib.contenttypes',
'django.contrib.sessions',
'django.contrib.messages',
'django.contrib.staticfiles',
'south',
)
Here's what happened
python manage.py syncdb

What to do?
To support the MySQL need to use MySQL-for-Python-3 (link)
Install:
$ tar xfz MySQL-python-1.2.1.tar.gz
$ cd MySQL-python-1.2.1
$ python setup.py build
$ sudo python setup.py install

I have searched and tried many ways, but I could not find the right one.
Change django_project.settings with DjBlog.settings in your wsgi.py file.
Then follow the below steps to overcome ModuleNotFoundError.
Step 1: Install the app django-cors-headers
pip install django-cors-headers
Step 2: Add corsheader to the Installed App list in settings.py
INSTALLED_APPS = [
...
'corsheaders',
...
]
Step 3: Add CorsMiddleware and CommonMiddleware to middleware list in settings.py
MIDDLEWARE = [
...
'corsheaders.middleware.CorsMiddleware',
'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware',
...
]
Step 4: Allow access to all domains by just Adding the following variables in settings.py:
ALLOWED_HOSTS=['*']
CORS_ORIGIN_ALLOW_ALL = True
For more: https://dzone.com/articles/how-to-fix-django-cors-error
In your wsgi.py replace:
os.environ.setdefault('DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE', 'django_project.settings')
with:
os.environ.setdefault('DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE', 'DjBlog.settings').
I was also facing same issue (File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>")
Solution:
python manage.py migrate
python manage.py collectstatic (if static required in your project).
After executing the above command, we could run the project successfully.
I started my first project with Django framework (Window platform).
When trying to run manage.py runserver, i received an Error.
Python version - 3.8.5 , Django version - 3.1
I am attaching the Error i received in the Terminal

What can I do Now?.....
it is happening because of circular import in init.py file
follow the steps :
don't install this ...maybe u have done it ...
pip uninstall paypal
no need to delete migrations unistall it and reinstall it properly
pip install django-paypal
don't forget to add " - " in that because this is the reason for that issue ...
this worked for me !
try and give a upvote if works . Thank You in advance
You just need to install django-paypal.
pip install django-paypal

Any idea what the issue is?
Add project to your INSTALLED_APPS in settings.py file
settings.py
INSTALLED_APPS = [
'django.contrib.admin',
'django.contrib.auth',
'django.contrib.contenttypes',
'django.contrib.sessions',
'django.contrib.messages',
'django.contrib.staticfiles',
'project',
]
My solution to a similar problem was to export PYTHONPATH into my shell. That was throwing a warning about project, even though the INSTALLED_APPS was correct.
I had MySQL 5.5 installed as part of XAMPP stack on Win7 64bit. I am using python 3.4 and I want to try out Django. So I installed Django using pip from command line and it worked fine with the default sqlite3 db.
To integrate MySQL, I see installed 'mysql-connector-python' using pip. I changed the engine to ''mysql.connector.django'. I changed the settings.py file with the DATABASE settings as follows:
DATABASES = {
'default': {
'ENGINE': 'mysql.connector.django',
'NAME': 'db',
'USER': 'root',
'PASSWORD': '',
}
}
When I check the server, I get the following error:

raise ImproperlyConfigured(error_msg)
django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: 'mysql.connector.django' isn't an available database backend.
Try using 'django.db.backends.XXX', where XXX is one of:
'base', 'mysql', 'oracle', 'postgresql_psycopg2', 'sqlite3'
Error was: cannot import name 'BaseDatabaseFeatures'
Found a bug filed here-
https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=76752
For resolution, it suggests-
Adjust the backend to the changes in Django API. See the release notes for details:
https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.8/releases/1.8/#database-backend-api
How do I adjust the backend? I have no idea how to proceed.
Installing from the forked version works.
pip install git+https://github.com/multiplay/mysql-connector-python
From Github repo description this one is
Fork of version 2.0.4 of mysql-connector-python (and probably rebased
at points) until upstream issues are fixed
Got the reference from bug url.
The latest version of mysql-connector-python works with Django 1.8. You can get it from the mysql website.
(version mysql-connector-python-2.1.3)
Install it from the MySQL:
pip install http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/Connector-Python/mysql-connector-python-2.1.3.tar.gz
