I have installed sklearn using the following commands (I tried both) but when I include it I receive the following error:
sudo port install py26-scikit-learn
or:
sudo port install py27-scikit-learn
The problem is:
>>> import sklearn
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named sklearn
You know what maybe wrong?
ANSWER: This worked for me:
sudo port select --set python python26
Make sure you are using the correct python binary. When you install scikits using macports, it becomes available in the macports version of python - not apple's. Use the port select command to change which python is the default when you simply call "python"

I'm running arch and when I try to use aws in the terminal I get a python-like error:

File "/usr/bin/aws", line 19, in <module>
import awscli.clidriver
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'awscli'
This happened for pip as well which I resolved by python -m ensurepip but I don't know why it was like that in the first place. I even tried explicitly adding the path to aws to my PATH to no avail.
Well, pip and other applications are in fact python programs. Apparently you just lack the 'awscli' module. A first try would be just install this module.
Try this command
sudo pip install awscli --force-reinstall --upgrade
I tried to install redis-py lib via pip. It was installed successfully, but when I tried to import redis in python3 shell, I got the following error:

File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'redis'
In python2 it gets imported with no errors.
I have tried all three pip, pip2, pip3 on my machine (ubuntu 17.10). Also I have python3.6 installed. I also tried easy_install
You are installing it in Python 2.7 (you have probably already know this). If python3.6 brings up the correct Python version on your system then this should work for you:
python3.6 -m pip install redis
If you are unsure what each pip version brings up you can use the which command to list the file path. This will give you a good indication as to where to look.
Also pip3.6 install redis might work but is not as secure as the above

I have gone trough these steps, more or less as described above.
Problem is that the subdirectory "python" does not exist under /usr/bin/
in my file system. I run Linux Mint 18.3. Python 2.7 seems to be the native version installed in Mint (used for several purposes), but I have also installed Python 3.6.4 and wish to use this for development purposes.
Does anyone know in which directory I could expect to find MySQLdb?
Since #!/usr/bin/python is non existent I wonder - has MySQLdb been properly installed? If it has, I have not after several efforts succeded in locating it.

sudo port install numpy
sudo port install opencv +python27
This seemed to work, but if I do
import cv
in a python file and try to run it, I get this error:

import cv
ImportError: No module named cv
That post is a couple years old, so I wonder if it might be outdated, or more likely I just don't know what I'm doing.
A little more info. If I run
port installed opencv
I get
The following ports are currently installed:
opencv #2.4.6_0+python27 (active)
So it looks like it's installed (?)
I uninstalled opencv, then did
sudo port install python27
sudo port install opencv +python27
sudo port select --set python python27
and it works
Here is a post about installing a module in python3. When I use brew install python, then it installs it for 2.7.
When I use the method suggested by dan, which aimed to install it directly in python3 (who i really thank), but which didn't work :
# Figure out the path to python3
PY3DIR=`dirname $(which python3)`
# And /then/ install with brew. That will have it use python3 to get its path
PATH=$PY3DIR:$PATH brew install mapnik
The installation was successful but in python2. so I get:
For non-homebrew Python, you need to amend your PYTHONPATH like so: export PYTHONPATH=/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages:$PYTHONPATH
so i finally add the path manually in python3 :
import sys
sys.path.append('/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages')

The Mapnik python bindings depend on boost_python. And both need to use the same python. The problem is likely that homebrew is providing a bottle of boost which includes boost python built against python 2.7 and not python 3.x.
