I'm using CentOS 6.3, Python 2.6 and Couchbase.
I downloaded couchbase1.0.0 package for Python from and follow the guide from this https://pypi.python.org/pypi/couchbase
But, when I run the build_ext command, I got this error
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcouchbase
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
I tried to use python setup.py install command, I got the error above, too.
I changed into couchbase1.0.0 directory before running commands.
How can I solve this problem?
Linker is missing couchbase library, did you install couchbase package and all -devel packages for it ? by packages I mean system packages, not python packages.

I'm getting a strange linker error that I don't completely understand while attempting to install postgresql on OSX.
I've installed Postgres via Brew and now I'm trying to get my Django app up and running. I've added the postgres directory to my path. I'm running OSX Yosemite.
When I run the following command:
pip install psycopg2
I get this error:
ld: illegal text reloc in '_init_psycopg' to '_lobjectType' for architecture x86_64
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
error: command 'cc' failed with exit status 1
I'm at a loss where to go from here and my searches for this type of error has lead me no where. Any help would be amazing.
Thanks.
Turns out I had a couple versions of Postgres installed. I had to remove the old one and make sure the pg_config that was found in the PATH was the most recent one. As soon as I made sure the pg_config was the proper one, this error went away.
I followed instructions as given here
I installed python 3.4.3, then installed zlib and finally executed python setup.py install after downloading extracting the yowsup from hereenter link description here
and changed directory to yowsup-master.
But I get this error:
c:/mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.8.1/../../../../mingw32/bin/ld.exe: build\
temp.win-amd64-3.4\Release\curve25519module.o: bad reloc address 0x14 in section
`.data'
collect2.exe: error: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'C:\\MinGW\\bin\\gcc.exe' failed with exit status 1
Then since above did not work, I tried using pip install yowsup2 but I get the same error.
Could anyone get round this error?
I am not into python, so not able to tell why is this error happening.
I am on windows 8.1 64 bit.
There are few things which don't let you import that yowsup module in windows even in windows 10. so i have managed to install that in linux os (i am using kali linux) i have tryed to download and install the visual c++ build tool but that is just waste of time and data.
So Better switch to a Cloud like heroku or sitch to linux (vm or duel boot)
I have a web app developed with web.py using python 2.7.5.
I need to deploy it on a server running Scientific Linux 6.5. It comes with python 2.6.6 and the system requires this version, so I had to install python 2.7.5 in parallel.
What I need to do is to install mod_wsgi that uses python 2.7.5. I couldn't find a pre-compiled package, so I attempted to build one from source. I downloaded the source of mod_wsgi-3.4.
I ran configure with:
./configure --with-python=/home/mapto/Python-2.7.5/python
and got response:
checking for apxs2... no
checking for apxs... /usr/sbin/apxs
checking Apache version... 2.2.15
configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: creating Makefile
When I run make it fails with:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libpython2.7.a(abstract.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata.str1.8' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/local/lib/libpython2.7.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
.
make: * [mod_wsgi.la] Error 1
How can I sort out this problem? Would it help installing apxs2? If so, how can I do that? (apparently when I executed "yum install httpd-devel" it installed apxs, not apxs2)
This worked for me: apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
I had to also do this, because of the parallel python versions: Python executable not finding libpython shared library
I want to install fuzzy python package. I have windows 7 operating system with mingw32 and python 2.7. When I try to pip install the fuzzy package, I get the following error.
c:/mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.8.1/../../../../mingw32/bin/ld.exe: build\temp.win-amd64-2.7\Release\src\fuzzy.o: bad reloc address 0x0 in section `.data'
collect2.exe: error: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
Here's the complete log.
Please please help!
I had the same error when trying to install the (not part of anaconda) mmh3 module on an anaconda installation on windows.
It seems that your path includes an independent mingw installation (c:/mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.8.1/../../../../mingw32/bin/ld.exe)
I had to remove my mingw from my path so that it used the MiniGW that corresponds to your Python, so try to check e.g. if
ld.exe -version
and
...\anaconda\MinGW\bin\ld.exe -version
give you the same, if not, make sure your path is correct as discussed above...

What I figured out is that I am missing Boost.python. Tried to find how to install it but failed, could anyone help me out?
thanks.
I'm guessing you're not running this under Cygwin, so you have a couple challenges. Did you install gcc? It's required by your install. You'll also need Boost installed and as Bart said in the comments, the best thing to do is to check out their build/install documentation.
